Purpose
The Northwest Indiana Genealogical Society is a non-profit organization whose objectives are to collect, preserve and disseminate knowledge and information with reference to genealogy, history, heraldry; to promote and sustain interest in the study of these fields, to pool interests and aid individuals relating to genealogy.

Membership Period
The membership year is July1 to June 30, any application received after May 1 will be applied to the following year.

Steve will show us how we can properly preserve all our old and precious genealogical documentation that we collected while doing our research. Steve McShane is the Archivist/Curator of the Calumet Regional Archives.

Annual Fort Wayne Bus Trip
September 20, 2008 The Annual Fort Wayne Bus Trip
We will be taking our annual bus trip to Allen County Library in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This is a great way to travel to the largest public library for genealogy in the country. We get a bus for 24 people on a first come first serve basis. We leave Merrillville with a stop in Valparaiso for pick-ups and stay until about 4:30 pm. We stop for dinner on the way back. Plan on join us!
