Ellis Island is an important part of America's Genealogical History. Nearly 12 million immigrants came through Ellis Island from 1892 to 1954. According to Moreno 25 percent of today's Americans have an ancestor who came through Ellis Island. Today, Ellis Island is America's historical museum for immigration and genealogical research.
